Preparation for Week 7 of "Kill or Be Killed"

This last week is critical. For your soul's sake, for the sake of your brothers and for the sake of the glory of Christ be prepared and be there on Wednesday. The resolution of Owen's entire treatise is in these final two chapters. Rumor has it there will be a nice little book table that morning as well.

Some highlights to consider this week:
"When God stirs your heart about the guilt of your sin, concerning its root and indwelling, or its breaking out, be careful that you do not speak peace to yourself before God speaks it. Listen closely to what He says to your soul.

Without careful observation of this direction, your heart will be very exposed to the deceitfulness of sin.

This is a business of great importance. It is a sad thing for a man to deceive his own soul in this way. All the warnings God gives us, in tenderness to our souls, to examine ourselves, are to prevent this great evil of speaking peace to ourselves without due warrant. This is to bless ourselves, without the blessing of God.
...
Let these great truths abide in your mind. Consider that He is exalted and made a 'Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel' (Acts 5:31). If He came to give repentance, then also mortification! True repentance must include mortification. Christ tells us that we obtain purging grace by abiding in him (John 15:3). To trust in the fullness we have in Christ for our supply is an important part of our abiding in Christ. Both our introduction into Christ and our abiding in Christ are by faith (Rom. 11:19-20)
...
Set your faith upon Christ for the killing our your sin. His blood is the great sovereign remedy for sin-sick souls. Live in the light of Christ's great work, and you will die a conqueror"
